About
I received my BA (Hons) from the London Metropolitan University in Photomedia and achieved a Masters with Distinction at Brunel University in Cult Film and Television. The latter dissertation focused upon Paracinema and feminist discourse: Unpacking power, sexuality and female hysteria in The Craft (1996).
Currently a PhD candidate at Brunel's Screen Media Research department, my research has the working title of Femininity, Feminism and Masochism: The Female Masochist Body in Cinema, examining erotic and pornographic adaptations of contemporary and classical sadomasochistic texts, through a prism of feminist, psychoanalytical and socio-political analysis.
I am in the process of publishing an article entitled 'Femininity, 'Fangirls' and The Mighty Boosh: Female Fan Practices, Interaction and Consumption' and in addition I am (with Wickham Clayton) the contributing co-editor of the forthcoming I. B. Tauris anthology titled Screening Twilight: Critical Approaches to a Cinematic Phenomenon.
I am also co-organiser of the Onscenity Network's Sexual Cultures Conference which will be held at Brunel University in April 2012.
I am also a Peer Editor for the Roehampton University journal for performance and creative research, Activate, as well as peer editor for Goldsmiths' Cultural Studies department magazine, Nyx, a Noctournal.
